Taipei's Cradle of Creativity: Huashan 1914 Creative Park
Located in the heart of Taipei city and right next to Zhongxiao East Road, the Huashan 1914 Creative Park traces its origins back to 1914 during the Japanese colonial period as the "Taipei Wine Factory" (Taiho Brewery), which was once the largest winery in Taiwan. With urban development and the relocation of the winery to Linkou, this historic site was reclaimed by art and cultural professionals in 1997, successfully transforming an abandoned factory into Taiwan's first cross-disciplinary arts and exhibition space.
The park fully preserves the industrial architectural features of the Japanese colonial era, such as red-brick warehouses, towering chimneys, and concrete walls covered in lush green vines, showcasing a strong charm of old buildings and retro industrial styles. Today, it has become Taipei's most iconic creative hub, bringing together various cultural and creative brands, brand pop-up stores, the Spot Huashan Cinema, and the well-known music performance space, Legacy.
