M1A Research Lab (Tower Area)

The building was added in 1920 during the Japan Hōjō Brewing Co., Ltd.. It was originally used for cultivating koji and yeast. During the Monopoly Bureau’s operation of the winery, it was repurposed as an office for employees. The three buildings in the tower area are interconnected, and their varied heights and staggered designs form a distinctive architectural landscape within theTaipei Winery and Distillery. The red brick building was originally the winery’s research department, and its interior still preserves features such as the wooden incubator and workbench from the laboratory.
